How to Make Kilt Flashers
Kilts are traditional Scottish clothing for men and boys that are made of tartan wool, which represents an individual Scottish clan. Kilts are now more popular, come in different patterns and colors, and are now more integrated into everyday attire. To finish your look you should wear kilt flashers that are made from identical tartan fabric, to complement the kilt. Flashers are used to hold your kilt hose or socks, using an elastic band that is covered with the sock folded over.

Create 4 7.5 by 17.5 cm (3 by 7 inches) rectangular tartan fabrics and four 17.5 centimeters (7 inches)pieces made of fusible fabric, as well as 4 12.5 centimeters (5 inches) pieces of hem tape.
Remove one end of the fusible web, then place it in the center of one rectangular tartan fabric. Iron the paper side of the web until it is able to stick on the fabric. The instructions on the fusible web indicate how hot your iron needs to be to melt the glue for the fabric.
The tartan fabric is folded in two. Fold both sides over the web until they meet in the middle, but don’t remove the paper side of the web until. Use the iron to press gently across each edge of tartan, so you’ve got a sharp fold.
Make sure you fold the sides until they touch in the middle Do not take off the paper part of the web until you are ready.
Apply the iron gently across all the edges of the tartan to create a sharp fold.
The tartan fabric is folded in half and remove the paper. Fold it back and iron all of the flashes until the edge of the fabric is securely bonded to the web.
Set a hem tape piece onto the flash so it covers the line of one of the sides of tartan which has been folded. Place the hem tape in line against the lower part of the flash. Iron it in place.
Fold the upper edge of the flashlight 3.1 centimeters (1 1/8 inch). Utilize a machine to sew close to the edge to allow enough space for the elastic.
Make a triangle near the bottom of the flash. Discard the triangle. Repeat steps 1-7 for the following three flashes.
Cut two 45cm (18 inches) lengths of elastic. Make use of the machine to stitch the loop and hook edges of Velcro to the opposite ends of the same length of elastic. Make sure that the hook is located on one end of elastic, and that the loop side is located on the opposite. Repeat this for the next length of elastic.
Cut out a triangle on the lower part of the flash. Discard the flash.
Make use of the sewing machine to stitch the loop and hook edges of Velcro to the opposite ends of one elastic piece.
Put two flashes on the elastic to create a tilting flash. Repeat the process for the second one.
