About
This blog is interested primarily in kilts as daily wear garments, rather than The Kilt as Highland Dress or formal attire. I have nothing against either, however as I don’t know of any Scottish in my family, they are not a major interest of mine.
“End trouser tyranny”, the saying goes. Back in 2000 and 2001 my wife and I hiked most of the Appalachian Trail. When summer came around it was hot, bloody hot, and I learned the horrors of chafe. I started hiking in a skirt, not entirely dignified, but who’s to argue with someone walking 15-20 miles a day and bathing perhaps once a week?
Now, on to the kilt. I never wore a kilt until recently, having no particular affinity for any tartan, and no Scottish heritage in my family. Then I found out about the Utilikilt and other similar modern kilts. No need for a specific heritage. The Utilikilt and other modern casual kilts even have pockets. They are comfortable, practical, and most people think they are cool. I love them! Perhaps one day I will even get a more traditional kilt.
I was rather surprised at the low number of blogs dedicated to kilts. Here is mine, enjoy.

Long have men been subject to the poor and limited choices offered by the Trouser Tyrants. Pants are dead! Long Live the Kilt!
